Kuniyoshi Tattoo Back Piece by "Sailor Jerry" Collins

Large and iconic Japanese tattoo drawing by Norman Keith Collins (1911-1973), better known as "Sailor Jerry," Honolulu, Hawaii, ca. 1965. Color pencil on tracing paper. Depicting the Japanese myth Aki-no-Kami Taira-no-Kujanori encounters the apparition of the fox goddess Koki-teno, after the woodblock print by Kuniyoshi. Colored pencil on tracing paper. Acquired directly from Mike Malone. Professionally framed with UV glass.
23 1/2 x 18 1/2 in. (59.7 x 47 cm.), Frame: 32 1/4 x 27 1/4 in. (81.9 x 69.2 cm.)

  • Condition: Overall good condition. Some folds, tears, and loss along edges typical for its age and use. Not examined outside of frame.
