Manuscript Town Records for Sanbornton, New Hampshire [Census - Ledger - Account Book]

A group of five handwritten municipal records pertaining to the town of Sanbornton, New Hampshire, dating from 1833 through 1860. These manuscripts provide a detailed account of civic administration, education, and population in a mid-19th-century New England community.

The collection is anchored by a substantial hardcover ledger, inscribed on the interior "Account Book / The Property of The Town of Sanbornton, 1842," containing over 150 pages of entries. The volume documents a wide range of town matters, including expenditures and accounts relating to schoolhouses, roads, taxation, and the activities of town officials such as the selectmen.

Also included is a paper-covered volume titled "School Book for 1860," comprising lists of students organized by district. Accompanying this is an index of names (lacking its front cover), as well as a second indexed volume that appears to function as a docket book for the Court of Common Pleas.
Completing the group is an inventory book dated 1833, containing detailed census-style records of town residents.
