Walter Bigmore Tattoo Artist Sign

Hand-painted tattoo flash sign for "electric tattooist" Walter Harry Bigmore (1898-1972) of London, ca. 1950. Walter began tattooing professionally shortly before WWI. He learned from his father, famed London tattoo artist George Bigmore (1876-1960). Featuring three small sheets of designs mounted to bottom. Ink and watercolor on paper. Reverse with notes from collector and tattoo artist Lyle Tuttle.

Provenance: featured in Terry Manton's The Pioneer's of British Tattooing (2023).

  • Condition: Folds, some loss to corners and edges, and staining visible in photos.
