Tattoo, Circus, Sideshow & Curiosities

Bray & Co. is pleased to present Tattoo, Circus, Sideshow & Curiosities—an inaugural sale celebrating the rich visual and cultural history of the unusual and extraordinary. This landmark event brings together exceptional works from around the world, many of which, long hidden from public view, are being offered here for the first time.

Anchoring this year's sale are several remarkable private collections, including an extraordinary assemblage of tattoo photographs and ephemera from the collection of Mav Mess; historically significant material from Don and Flo Makofskie, founders of National Tattoo Association; and an unparalleled selection of hand-carved and painted works, sideshow props, and related artifacts by pioneering performers and tattoo artists Gus and Maud Wagner, drawn from the collection of Kelly and Rhett Johnson.
