Tudor Revival Interior by Heiress Elizabeth Morse Genius, Society of Beaux Arts Architects [Charles Hosmer Morse]

Hand-painted architectural interior elevation and decorative scheme depicting an English Renaissance or Tudor Revival-style interior, by Elizabeth Owens Morse Genius (1872-1928). Ink and watercolor on paper. Signed "E. Morse" at lower right and bearing the official stamp of the Society of Beaux-Arts Architects, indicating the drawing was likely submitted for professional review or exhibition. Framed under glass.

Accompanied by a handwritten letter affixed to the verso, written by Elizabeth to her mother, referencing her "house mother," Mrs. Page, during her schooling, and requesting the shipment of her fur coat and additional funds.

Elizabeth Owens Morse Genius was an American art collector and philanthropist, and the daughter of Chicago industrialist Charles Hosmer Morse. Born in Chicago, she graduated from Wellesley College, where she studied art and music. In 1905 she married Dr. Richard Millard Genius, and throughout her life remained actively engaged in the support and patronage of the arts and cultural institutions.
